The Dangers of Anal Bleaching: Here's What They Are dangers of anal bleaching

The whitening of the anus is a fairly discussed practice: little is said about it due to the privacy factor, and many point to it as a risky procedure.

It is no coincidence that this is a rather controversial topic, on which there are more shadows than lights. Our aim today is to clarify how many of these rumors are true and what are (and if any) the dangers of anal bleaching.

We will do this by explaining in detail the possible side effects of these treatments, also indicating the substances absolutely to be avoided. Obviously we will also study those methodologies which, however, do not involve any risk for the individual.

Dangers of anal bleaching

Certain products, commonly used in beauty salons, can cause significant contraindications to the people who use them. This makes the whitening of the rectal area an operation certainly with a high degree of danger.

Then it is obvious that this is true only for those products containing certain chemicals. Conversely, natural anal lightening creams like Star White anal bleaching cream are safe as their formula does not include any of these substances.

It begins by pointing out the possible skin reactions, due to the sensitivity of the area. Infections are also a possible risk associated with the use of these chemicals. Finally, even certain whitening practices adopted in specialist clinics (which usually have a certain cost) can have contraindications.

In this case, we are talking about laser treatments and cryogenic ones. In the rest of the article, therefore, we will see in detail each of these items.

Possible skin reactions

It begins with one of the most probable risks, when approaching the whitening of the anal area using products based on chemical elements. It talks about the potential skin reactions to the above treatment. This is due to the fact that the skin of the rectal area has a series of very sensitive and delicate mucous membranes.

These parts are particularly susceptible when stressed with these products: as a consequence they could produce various irritations or allergic reactions towards a wide range of chemicals.

Unfortunately, most whitening creams or formulas contain some potentially toxic, harmful or otherwise unsafe ingredients.

These elements could sensitize or even burn the skin around the anus. Furthermore, there is a risk that they can also be absorbed, passing through the anal mucous membranes and causing serious problems to the internal organs. Very small quantities are enough to run these dangers.

The result of such contact or absorption could lead to very bad consequences. Just think of the simple discomfort caused by a persistent or temporary burning, but also of permanent burn scars.

You could also get a reverse effect, due to a rash reaction of the skin to contact with these substances: sometimes, the skin of the anus does not lighten but darkens even more, due to the phenomenon of hyper-pigmentation. Among other things, the chemical elements could also lead to the burning of sphincter fibers, causing anal incontinence.

Spread of genital infections

The dangers of anal bleaching also concern the risk of contracting an infection in the areas of the genitals. This happens due to the use of these products in non-sterile areas, and this is often the case when you decide to try the treatment at a beauty salon.

This is a (largely avoidable) danger that can lead to infection with viruses such as herpes or other infectious agents. Based on what we have seen so far, you should always choose a natural cream and proceed with the do-it-yourself anal whitening, therefore in a safe and clean environment like your home.

Adverse reactions to specific agents

As we told you above, the risk associated with the use of certain products always depends on the substances they contain.

Certain chemical elements, in fact, can bring some of the worst possible contraindications. What are these elements, and what could they be responsible for?

1 Hydroquinone

Many whitening creams contain hydroquinone, a powerful chemical that is banned in many countries around the world.

In this case, hydroquinone appears in the list of chemical elements also banned in Europe, and therefore Italy is no exception. Its strong whitening power comes from the fact that it inhibits the tyrosinase enzyme.

The latter is therefore involved in an operation that limits the production of melanin, going to lighten the color of the complexion. Since 2006, hydroquinone has been reported by the US FDA for the serious side effects it causes on the skin. Several studies are currently underway to investigate this very sensitive topic.

What are the damages caused by contact between the skin and hydroquinone? This substance is best known for causing ochronosis: a disease that alters the catabolism of the tyrosinase enzyme, causing the permanent appearance of a bluish or black section of skin. Furthermore, it is suspected that this substance is also a carcinogen.

However, many whitening creams continue to use this chemical, despite the fact that it has been banned. Before continuing, it is worth pointing out the other problems caused by the use of hydroquinone. We talk about the thickening of collagen fibers in the perianal skin: a fact that causes the appearance of rough skin to the touch and an irregular appearance.

In addition to chemical burns, hydroquinone also causes photo-sensitization, which means it increases the skin's sensitivity to sunburn. As if this were not enough, in case of exposure to UV rays from the sun the skin would risk becoming even darker (here you will find a scientific article).

2 Arbutin

Arbutin is another ingredient often found in anal bleaching creams. Also known as bearberry extract, arbutin is often advertised as a completely safe ingredient. In fact it is natural, given that it is obtained from the leaves of a plant known as bearberry or Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi.

Although this active ingredient is useful in certain medical fields, it is actually still risky for the skin. This is due to the fact that arbutin is converted into hydroxyquinone by the human body, a very toxic substance for humans.

3 Mercury

Many whitening products also contain mercury - a bleaching agent that knows how to be very effective on the skin, but also just as dangerous. Mercury is in fact responsible for problems such as liver and kidney failure, poisoning and even cancer.

For this reason, you should never select a cream with a percentage of mercury in it. Unfortunately, products containing this dangerous agent are often used in beauty salons.

4 Kojic acid

Kojic acid (or kojic acid) is famous for being one of the substances with the highest lightening properties. It is no coincidence that it is often used in the cosmetics sector, and this also includes the formulation of creams for whitening the anus.

It is an organic acid derived from a wide variety of fungi, in particular from Aspergillus oryzae or Koji (from which it takes its name). Also in this case we speak of an effective substance for reducing the activity of the enzyme tyrosinase.

On the other hand, it is also one of the most risky products for allergic reactions. Among other things, kojic acid is also included in the list of category 2 carcinogens: this means that it is thought to lead to cancer, although there is no absolute certainty of this.

5 Azelaic acid

Azelaic acid is a natural product, often used in whitening creams, in combination with other elements such as aloe vera extract or ascorbic acid.

Here it is good to clarify that azelaic acid is not dangerous in itself: it usually does not cause any kind of problem, and then it must be said that it has a fairly moderate lightening effect, due to its delicacy.

Unfortunately, however, there are people who may be allergic to this acid: this means that it cannot be considered 100% safe, although it is a very different situation than the other items on the list.

Specifically, in case of sensitive skin or possible allergy, azelaic acid can cause skin irritation, widespread burning, itching and dryness of the skin.

Laser bleaching and cryogenics

In this article we have exposed all the dangers of anal bleaching performed with chemical based products. However, it should be noted that even some clinical treatments could cause many problems. We talk about the whitening and cryogenic laser treatment, which can cause hyper-pigmentation, pain, permanent scars and the appearance of skin rashes.

Among other things, it is good to specify that anal bleaching (even clinical) is not a one-time event. This is because melanin production will resume regularly, once the tyrosinase enzyme is regenerated.

For this reason, the treatments are often repeated after months: if this happens with chemical products, it only increases the risks deriving from the substances listed today.

This is why the advice is to use creams totally based on natural extracts, knowing well how this whitening procedure is done, and to do it while being careful of any allergic reactions.

On the contrary, products with chemical elements should always be avoided, and with them beauty salons that deal with anal whitening. The potential risks, in terms of infections and inflammation, are very high.
